Contrary to widespread assumption, French Oscar recipient Albert Lamarisse is not the inventor of the strategic board game RISK. He was inspired by the remains of an old board game which he inherited from his grandfather, the old duke Lao.
The old Muka Tree magnate Lao took this board game with him from the Rilao archipelago. The game was played by native Rilaoans as a form of silent resistance against the exploitation of the Muka Tree.
When Lao discovered this game he had a strong suspicion that the native Rilaoans used this board game to prepare for violent attacks against Lao and his employees.
Therefore he fled from the archipelago.
Shown here are pieces of this board game.
